5 Perks of Being a Freelance Web Designer
A freelancer is defined as “a person who works as a writer, designer, performer, or the like, selling work or services by the hour, day, job, etc., rather than working on a regular salary basis for one employer.” Essentially, it means that you are your own boss and you work by yourself.
Freelance Web Designer
Web design is one of the jobs you can do as a freelancer. You don’t need to have any formal qualifications to become a freelance Web designer. You can do an online course to learn how to build websites on a platform like WordPress. Freelancing comes with many advantages, and we would like to point out a few:
Control your workload
Being your own boss means that you are free to decide how much work you want to take on. Maybe you would like to work very hard for a few months and then take some time off, or maybe you want to work half-day without the disapproving frowns of colleagues that have to stay put when you leave. Your deciding factor here will probably be income-related; the more you work, the more you can earn.
Use your most productive hours
Maybe you’re one of those people who have a difficult time waking up in the morning. You might look like you’re awake, but your ability to focus only kicks in about four hours after you get to work. Maybe, just as you hit your most productive hours, you have to pack up and go home already. Or, maybe, you work best while the rest of the world is asleep. Whichever way, when you’re a freelancer you can work whenever you want to. Plus, if you get sleepy around lunchtime, there’s nobody to throw you a dirty look if you want to spend some time on the couch with your eyes closed.
Work wherever you want
Some people really dislike strict office vibes and find that they concentrate much better sitting in a busy coffee shop or in a garden under a tree. With freelancing, you can work wherever you feel the most productive or comfortable. And if you’re really tired of your regular scenery, you can literally go and work anywhere in the world!
Control your salary
Although you will have to cope with an unstable income, you can control how much you charge for your website-related products or services. You can also control your income with the hours you put in, unlike with a permanent, full-time job – the more hours you work, the more income you will generate.
Working from home saves time and costs
When you work from home, you don’t have to spend time or money commuting to and from work. You also don’t have to spend money on fancy work clothes and expensive fresh lunches – you can wear whatever you want and you can make your own lunch in the comfort of your own kitchen. Working for yourself also has certain TAX benefits, so be sure to get some help with that.
